New project: ABOL-BioBlitzes

Besides the climate crisis, the global biodiversity crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity. In order to protect our biodiversity efficiently and to be able to detect changes at an early stage, close monitoring of our biodiversity is necessary. This can help to build up a reference database that is as complete as possible. In the ABOL-BioBlitzes project, you can help to build up this database. You can find out how this works in practice at Österreicht forscht. Join the project!

Technical University Vienna

The TU Wien is Austria's largest research and educational institution in the field of technology and natural sciences. More than 4,000 scientists are researching "technology for people" in five main research areas at eight faculties. The content of the studies offered is derived from the excellent research. More than 27,000 students in 55 degree programmes benefit from this. As a driver of innovation, TU Wien strengthens the business location, facilitates cooperation and contributes to the prosperity of society. At TU Wien, we have been conducting research, teaching and learning under the motto 'Technology for people' for over 200 years.

Citizen Science plays an increasingly important role at TU Wien, especially in the areas of urban development and spatial planning, mobility, circular economy, digital tools and technologies. The goal of the international research project OPUSH is to make knowledge about sustainable development visible and accessible to local communities. For this purpose, the library as a center of transformative development is opened to the public. Other Citizen Science projects are Werkstatt Neu Leopoldau, which deals with social sustainability in the settlement of a new urban neighborhood, the project City Layers, which will make the individual experience in public space available to urban planners in order to identify and take into account special needs, or the project Recycling Heroes, which aims to raise awareness about electronic waste, especially among students but also in society in general, by combining circular economy principles with Citizen Science methods.
